BASELWORLD 2014

The Baselworld Palace
Stand 5C

Baselworld 2014 sees Bremont taking its first official stand at the fair where the new watch launches for the year are unveiled for the first time. The new Bremont Boeing range, set to become part of the core collection, takes-off with the introduction of the Model 1 & 247. Additionally Bremont launches its first titanium watch in the form of the Limited Edition Terra Nova, a timepiece which has been tested at the South Pole by record-breaking explorer Ben Saunders. Finally, and building on the great success of the existing MB range, the eagerly anticipated MBIII is here with new GMT functionality.

Bremont and Boeing

Bremont Watch Company confirms that the new Boeing watch range, launching at Basel 2014, will comprise two new models: the Bremont Boeing Model 1 and the Bremont Boeing Model 247. The new line is the result of extensive access to the aerospace company’s material and manufacturing technology at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) in Sheffield, UK, as well as to its historical and archival materials. The watches will exclusively use Boeing aeroplane materials that have never before been incorporated in watch manufacture.

Bremont Boeing Model 1

Named after the first ever aircraft built by Boeing, the Bremont Boeing Model 1 is a unique timepiece designed and tested through a collaboration between Bremont and The Boeing Company, using the aircraft companies unique experience in advanced material research. It has been designed to set the industry standard for aviation timepieces using metals that have never been used in watch manufacture. There are two versions available, one using Custom 465® Stainless Steel, a double vacuum-melted age-hardenable alloy developed for the aerospace industry capable of superior strength, hardness and corrosion resistance, and the other using Boeing aviation grade Ti-64 titanium.

Bremont Boeing Model 247

The Bremont Boeing Model 247 represents the debut chronograph in the collaboration, named after the first Boeing twin-engine commercial aircraft. The two ‘twin-like’ subdials tastefully reflect this inspiration. Like the Bremont Boeing Model 1, two versions are available: the first is built from exceptionally tough Custom 465® Stainless Steel, while the second has been manufactured from Boeing aviation-grade titanium. The hardened case incorporates screw down crowns and chrono pushers, together with an exhibition sapphire crystal case back.

Terra Nova

In late 2013, the renowned polar explorer, Ben Saunders and his team mate Tarka L’Herpiniere walked from Scott’s hut on the north shore of Ross Island in Antarctica to the South Pole. Once there, they turned around and walked the 900 miles back - pulling their own supplies by sled the whole way. Their record-breaking 1,795 mile trek was the first to complete Scott’s route to the South Pole.

On the outside of their jackets the two polar explorers wore their new Terra Nova chronometers. Far too cold for any type of battery operated device, the light titanium Supermarine with its GMT functionality and specially oiled mechanical movement became an indispensable tool. Using the chronometer to measure longitude, the watch could also point to the South Pole using the GMT hand and the sun.

Bremont MBIII

Bremont expands its Martin-Baker range with the eagerly anticipated MBIII. Retaining the iconic DNA of the Bremont MBI & MBII, and having been subjected to the same rigorous tests, the MBIII introduces a GMT movement and military inspired bronze knurled aluminium barrel.

Martin-Baker, the British company responsible for supplying 70% of the world’s air-forces with fighter ejection seat technology, started working with Bremont in 2007 to design and build the definitive aviation watch. The MB’s unique case design, distinctly coloured barrels and ground-breaking technical features made it an instant favourite among aviators in the military and civilian worlds alike.
