CODEBREAKER

Bremont Watch Company and the Bletchley Park Trust are pleased to announce that they will be working together on the release of the new Bremont limited edition watch that will incorporate historical artefacts from Bletchley Park. It will be called the ‘Codebreaker.’ The watch is unlike any other watch ever created and in addition a percentage of the proceeds will be used towards the ongoing restoration of Bletchley Park.

Bletchley Park played an extremely important role in British history. During WWII it was converted into a codebreaking factory and became the site of the United Kingdom’s main decryption establishment, the Government Code and Cipher School (GC&CS,) where ciphers and codes were decrypted, most famously the ciphers generated by the German Enigma and Lorenz machines.

By inventing and using ingenious machines and novel manual techniques to crack German ciphers, the 9,000 scientists, mathematicians and other crucial supporting staff are said to have helped shorten the war by at least two years and saved countless lives.

Inspired by a classic 40’s officer’s watch, the ‘Codebreaker’ will be made with a beautiful and unique Flyback chronograph GMT automatic movement and will incorporate some relevant historical artefacts from Bletchley Park; pine from the iconic Hut 6 (the centre of the operations to decrypt the German Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe Engima ciphers) and paper from one of the few remaining punch cards (used to analyse the vast amount of coded data created from the daily Enigma communications.) Part of the rotor of the watch will be made from the wheel of an original Enigma machine.

240 steel Codebreaker watches will be created and 50 rose gold watches.

Bremont releases the ALT1-B2 chronograph

Bremont is delighted to announce the release of its latest timepiece, the Bremont ALT1-B2 (GMT) Chronograph. Like an increasing number of Bremont watches this new release hails directly from the military as the design very closely mirrors the watch Bremont delivered to elite B2 ‘Stealth Bomber’ Aircrew in 2012.

The British watchmaker has long been associated with the military and continues to work very closely with multiple Air-Force, Navy and Army units around the world. The ALT1-B2’s DNA lies with a very interesting collaboration with the “Stealth Bomber” Squadron based in Missouri, USA. The distinctive ‘flying wing’ shaped aircraft, manufactured by Northrop Grumman in California, is a strategic, long-range heavy bomber capable of penetrating sophisticated air-defence shields.

Having been approached by the B2 Squadron to make a very unique watch, Bremont entered into a design phase with the aircrew to produce a timepiece that was very unique to them, and yet uncompromisingly Bremont.

The finished ALT1-B2 (GMT) has most of the advanced elements of the Bremont Chronograph range. It has its modified BE-54E movement, Trip-Tick® case with the Roto-Click® internal bezel and black DLC case. The challenge was getting the necessary stealthy appearance with the essential Bremont readability.

Bremont Co-Founder Nick English: “Working on this project with the B2 crew could not have been more interesting, they knew exactly what they were trying to achieve which was great. They are a fascinating group of people, most of whom are MIT or Harvard graduates as far as I can work out, probably a prerequisite to fly a B2 ‘Stealth Bomber!’ The B2 watch was a huge success with the Squadron, it also received rapturous applause from civilian watch aficionados so we knew there was a strong demand for general release version, hence the introduction of the ALT1-B2 Chronograph.”

The Bremont U-2 Blue

Bremont is pleased to announce the release of the latest watch in their U-‐2 collection (originally released in 2010), the blue-faced, blue-barrelled U-2 Chronometer, U-2/BL. Unlike others in the core U-2 range, the U-2/BL has an exhibition case back as standard.

The DNA of this new release lies firmly with the military following the pioneering development and dramatic success of the Bremont military air-crew watch developed in association with the world’s largest ejection seat manufacturer, Martin-Baker. The elite 9th Reconnaissance Wing at Beale wanted a watch with the same testing history as the Bremont MB but one that had also been custom-tested to their own requirements.

The finished U-2 chronometer has most of the advanced elements of the MB, including; the Anti-shock rubberized movement mount; designed to withstand the MB ejection seat program, but also added functionality, for example, testing that has taken the watch to 100,000 feet and -50 degrees C.

Nick English, Bremont Co-Founder: “It was a complete honour to work with the U-2 crew at Beale, CA. Their attention to deal was second to none and the end result was a rather special military watch that became the father of the U-2 retail range. The introduction of the new U-2 Blue is a striking addition to the collection. The range of aesthetics and advanced technical attributes makes the U-2 chronometer a great choice for the price point.”

Bremont launches the SUPERMARINE S2000

Following the success of the Supermarine 500, Bremont are pleased to announce the launch of their new diving model, the Supermarine 2000.

With professional divers in mind Bremont have increased the size of the original Supermarine case to 45mm and re-engineered it to withstand further depths of 2000m/6560ft.

The design of the Supermarine was built using Bremont’s unique Trip-Tick three-piece case construction. As with the previous model, extensive testing in the UK by Bremont has lead to the design and construction of the ‘Anti-Shock’ COSC certified movement mount to help protect it against large shocks. It is also housed inside an Anti-Magnetic faraday cage to protect the balance, balance spring and escapement from any effects of magnetisation. The developed model also features a Helium Escape valve.

An elegant crown protector has been built onto the side of the inner barrel and following on from other Bremont models; the watchcase has been specifically treated for strength using Bremont’s B-EBE2000 technology. The sapphire bezel and Super-LumiNova coated indexes and hands offer luminosity in low light conditions.

Bremont’s budget box

<centre>Bremont has created a unique watch case inspired by the Budget box which is famously held up for the photo-shoot outside 11 Downing Street before the Chancellor of the Exchequer announces his annual budget plans to Parliament.

The Bremont box is an exact replica of the box which is traditionally made from pine, lined with black satin and then covered with scarlet leather. The very first Budget box or ‘Gladstone box’ was made for William Ewart Gladstone in 1860. The box was lined with lead to ensure that it sank when thrown overboard in the event of capture and also makes it completely bomb proof. With Bremont enthusiasts amongst those who like to jump out of planes and climb up mountains, a replica of an indestructible watch case seemed the perfect fit!

The box has been hand made in England and locks on the bottom, just as the Budget box does, which guarantees that it is secure before it is carried. The Bremont box can be custom made to any specification, as well as colour, and can secure up to 10 watches. It is available at the Bremont Boutique in Mayfair.

Bremont proudly support the HENLEY HAWKS (Henley Rugby Club) who won promotion to National Division 1 last Saturday before a hugely excited crowd.

The Hawks did this with the free-flowing rugby that they have played all season and with eight tries in this game and a record total of 185 for the season. This win was, as with all their games which has seen them unbeaten at home all season, built on a magnificent team effort!
