See who is putting their Bremont to the test
With restrictions lifting in the UK and Formula 1 fans finally returning to Silverstone, Bremont kicked off the British Grand Prix week with its inaugural Bremont Adventurers Club at The Wing, but not before putting Williams Racing’s George Russell and Jost Capito to a quick bench test.
Having skilfully taken to Bremont’s watchmaking benches, Russell and Capito were interviewed by F1 Presenter Simon Lazenby for the main event.
Bremont is known for going to extreme lengths in putting the watch collections through their paces and the same can be said for Bremont’s brand ambassadors.
When Bremont became Official Timing Partner to Williams Racing earlier in the year and announced Jason Fox as the latest brand ambassador it was an opportunity too good to miss. We clearly wanted to do something special around the Silverstone Grand Prix and as a big F1 fanatic, we nominated Foxy to sub in for the Williams pit crew while the team were practising for the big race weekend.
Both Williams and Foxy were up for the challenge and there was an instant mutual respect in the garage between the dedicated pit crew and the star of SAS: Who Dares Wins. Decked out in Bremont t-shirt and of course, the new Supermarine Chrono watch, the crew set about explaining how everything comes together.
As the whole crew gathered around him, including Williams Racing drivers George Russell and Nicholas Latifi for added pressure, Foxy was handed a powerful wheel gun. Upon orders from the crew, the team and Foxy ran through the whole procedure as would happen on race day with the car coming into the pit. As the car reached a standstill, the crew knelt in their carefully rehearsed places. Foxy, keen to impress, was quick on the gun and received some encouraging cheers from his new teammates. A few more run-throughs and he was nailing it, even receiving applause from the drivers who remained to spectate.
Next time Foxy will be putting the Williams team through their paces at what he does best… Special Forces training!
As the excitement built for the home Grand Prix event, Bremont headed to the track on Saturday with an intimate group of talented British actors to watch the inaugural F1 Qualifying Sprint from the Paddock Club. A rather spectacular race had everyone transfixed as Verstappen took pole and George Russell a very impressive 9th (later to be changed to 12 after an FIA ruling).
For those who tuned in, you’ll know the main race day on Sunday did not disappoint, be it from the track or in the pits with Bremont guests Harrison Ford and Jeremy Irvine. Mr Ford had never attended an F1 race before so was curious to know what all the fuss was about. His love of engines (mainly aeroplanes) and watching people at the top of their respective fields doing what they do best filled him with intrigue and excitement. Irvine, a self-confessed F1 obsessive and star of War Hose and Mamma Mia 2, was equally as enthused.
The race itself started dramatically with a major and controversial crash between Hamilton and Verstappen, raising a red flag forcing all the cars back into the pit lane. With Verstappen out of the race and Hamilton given a 10 second penalty, there was some time to make up. Leclerc for Ferrari led most of the race with Hamilton never too far behind. Ultimately Lewis Hamilton made a remarkable comeback to snatch what was to be his 99th victory in the final few laps. As such, the race to become World Champion remains open.
