WHAT DRAWS YOU TO THE OCEAN?

There’s something about the ocean that immediately humbles and grounds me. The sheer vastness of it—its constant movement, its moods—reminds me how small we are in the grand scheme of things. I’m drawn to places that challenge me and inspire awe, and the ocean is infinitely complex and wild. Whether I’m paddling out for a surf or just standing at the edge watching the waves, the ocean always makes me feel connected to the natural world on a primal level.

HOW DOES SURFING SHAPE YOUR PERSPECTIVE?

Surfing naturally breeds patience and respect. The ocean is unpredictable, and you have to adapt to what it offers. That mindset carries through to all my other pursuits—being present, understanding that you can’t control everything, learning to read subtle cues in the environment, and knowing when to push and when to wait. Surfing is also an antidote to overthinking; it forces you to react purely in the moment, which is incredibly freeing and clarifying.

WHAT’S YOUR APPROACH TO GEAR IN UNFAMILIAR ENVIRONMENTS?

I’m meticulous about gear, especially when exploring new environments. Preparation is key, but so is adaptability. I always do my homework: talk to local experts, research the terrain, and test everything before I’m out there. I want my equipment to be an extension of myself—not something I have to think about. But no matter how careful you are, new places surprise you. So I try to bring versatile, durable gear that can be adjusted on the fly.

HOW DID THE SUPERMARINE CERAMIC HOLD UP?

It performed beautifully. When I’m in harsh, unpredictable environments—saltwater, sun, sand—I can’t afford to worry about my gear giving out. The Supermarine Ceramic handled everything I threw at it, from pounding surf to rigorous travel. Not only is it functional and robust, but it also has an understated style that I appreciate. It’s the kind of piece you want with you on every adventure.
